Pilgrim Course on 'The Commandments'

These sessions are being held each Thursday from 7.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.   The course is part of the Pilgrim Series centrally produced by the Church of England (our last Pilgrim Course looked at The Lord's Prayer).  There is a booklet to accompany the course.   Please sign the sheet at the back of church if you would like to come along.   One of the course booklets is available for you to see.   It is possible to follow the course via the booklet if you are unable to attend every week.

Refugee Collection

Thank you very much indeed for the fantastic response to the appeal, organised by the Ladies Night group in partnership with York City of Sanctuary, for items to help refugees set up home in Middlesbrough and other places.  The church hall was filled with a wonderful array of things last Saturday.

CMS St Crux

Thanks to all who donated items or helped in any way at this event. It raised a total of £1,270.19.

Fairtrade weekend 

St Margaret Clitherow church are organising a fairtrade weekend from Friday Oct 20th October, £1.50 including wine, fashion show and quiz. Then open on Saturday Oct 21 10.30 to 5p.m. entry by ticket 50p including coffee

Shoe box appeal 2017 1st  October to 19th November

Rotary Club boxes are available from Alyson Christy.   You can choose to help babies, children, teenagers or households. Please see the leaflets or the website for information about how to fill your box. http://www.rotaryshoebox.org.  Please stick £2 to the box; to cover the costs of the box and transport to needy people in Europe.  You can take your box to Aroma or bring it to church from 22nd October and by 18th November.at the latest please.

This year there will be three Sunday afternoon Autumn Concerts at St. Mary's, Haxby

On 22 October, we present “Around Britain in Song” - a recital by Ian Evans accompanied by Fiona Evans and with supporting act Elly Tanner playing flute."  The second concert is on 19 November featuring the much-loved and ever popular ensemble “A Garland of Flutes” with Rosalind Grice and her fellow players.  The final performance takes place on 26 November with John Mackenzie playing solo classical guitar – another welcome return with some familiar music and some new.  All concerts start at 2.30 pm and tickets will be available soon at £6 each.

'Gravetalk'

Wednesday 1st November 12.30 pm – 3.00 pm in St Mary’s Church Hall.  A chance to talk about difficult subjects in a relaxed setting.  A light lunch will be served.  Please sign the sheet in church if you plan to come.

Would you like to visit Hull City of Culture?

Join us on 7 November when our coach will depart at 8.45 am from Haxby and Wigginton for a visit starting at Hull Minster with free time to see museums, other attractions or shopping within easy walking distance and to get some lunch. In the afternoon the coach will take us to spend some time with Chris and Anna to see where they work and hear more about it. The cost will be about £10 - £12 depending on numbers and will be payable on the coach. Booking is essential - please sign the sheet in church if you want to go.
